BROOKLYN - Brooklyn residents got their first chance to play Powerball without crossing state lines Wednesday.

New York has joined 32 other states that sell Powerball tickets. Combined with Mega Millions, Brooklyn residents can now play two major jackpot games four days a week.

All profits from the New York State Lottery go to youth education. Officials say lottery revenue was $2.5 billion in 2009.

The results of the first drawing were 17-22-36-37-52, Powerball 24, Power Play 2.
