BROOKLYN - The winner of the Brooklyn Public Library's 2005 PowerUp competition is celebrating the grand opening of his own sandwich shop in Crown Heights.

Sydney Wayman said he always dreamed of opening his own shop after he had unsuccessfully searched high and low for the perfect Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

He submitted a business plan for a sandwich shop to the library in 2005 and walked away the winner of the $15,000 prize.

Wayman said after he raised some more money he was able to set up his shop on Nostrand Avenue.

Orientation for next year's PowerUp competition will be offered in March and April.
