BROOKLYN - While many are hoping the sun and fun of July 4 doesn't end, some Brooklyn residents are counting down the hours until gay couples can begin to pre-register for a marriage license in New York.

After contentious debate, the state passed a law legalizing gay marriage back in June.

Officials say that the pre-registration starting Tuesday is for online registrants only.

Gay couples will be allowed to get married in the state starting on July 25.
