BROOKLYN - The principal of a Brooklyn school is optimistic about an Arab language and culture academy opening in his building, but some students aren't convinced.

"It's such a small group of kids. I don't think it will affect my building [or] the facilities here," Brooklyn High School of the Arts Principal Robert Finley said about the Khalil Gibran International Academy. He said the school of 60 sixth-grade students will only use three classrooms when it opens in September. The Department of Education moved the academy to its new location at 345 Dean St. after parents of Park Slope's P.S. 282 protested against it. Finley's school already houses the Math and Science Exploratory School. The DOE has left voicemails for parents of students at the existing schools. It also plans to send out letters.

One student told News 12 Brooklyn he's unsure whether the Dean Street building can accommodate any more students.

The DOE says the academy will operate at the location for no more than two years before moving to a permanent home.
