BROOKLYN - Unlicensed nail salon workers can now sign up for the state's Nail Specialty Trainee program. 

Registration for the program is free. The application is online and available in 10 languages.

The new program is part of the state's effort to protect nail salon workers.

Registering for the program allows applicants to work for one year as a trainee with an option to renew.
