Progress made in Brighton Beach shooting probe

BROOKLYN - Police say they have a person of interest in connection with a fatal shooting on the Brighton Beach boardwalk that killed a 16-year-old girl and left four other people wounded.

The shooting has some questioning where police were at the time of the incident. The Brighton Beach Neighborhood Association says it is the time of the year when kids are winding down from the school year and it gets to be too much for the police force.

Since the shooting Thursday, police officials say they have stepped up security patrols on the boardwalk.
