Prom dress giveaway gives back smiles

BROOKLYN - A prom dress giveaway is making the high school rite of passage a reality for many.

The Brooklyn Colleges Community Partnership held a prom dress giveaway for teens who otherwise would not be able to afford a gown. The giveaway featured several styles of dresses, shoes and accessories.

The group assists students from underserved communities enter college. Organizers say that prom is an important part of the high school experience.
