Proposal introduced to help parents with double parking

Councilman Vincent Gentile and two other council members are trying to put an end to parents who receive double parking tickets when dropping and picking

BAY RIDGE - Councilman Vincent Gentile and two other council members are trying to put an end to parents who receive double parking tickets when dropping and picking up their kids from school.

Outside P.S. 185, many parents say agents stalk the school at dismissal waiting to write up all the double parked parents.

The tickets issued range from $115 to $125.

Under the new bill, drivers who are dropping off or picking up passengers would be given leniency, such as a parent dropping off a kid at school.

In 2002, 806,112 tickets were issued for double parking, in last year?s fiscal year there were 1.3 million double parking tickets.
