BROOKLYN - A proposed parade for Iraq war veterans has sparked controversy as two sides debate over whether a celebration is in order for troops returning home.

Officials in New York and Washington would like to host a big celebration for the vets, but some argue that a parade should be put on hold until both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are over.

Many local war vets, including WWII prisoner of war Ralph Mottola, say that those who served their country for the past nine years deserve to be honored.
