NEW YORK - (AP) - Prosecutors in New York plan to recommend to ajudge that charges in the sex assault case against DominiqueStrauss-Kahn be dropped.

A court filing Monday in the case against the formerInternational Monetary Fund leader was not immediately made public,and details weren't released. His accuser, a hotel housekeeper, and her lawyer met brieflywith prosecutors Monday. It had been widely expected thatprosecutors would announce plans to reduce or drop the charges. Questions have surrounded the credibility of the accuser. Therewere also questions about the strength of the evidence that aforcible encounter had occurred in the hotel room in May. Strauss-Kahn is due back in court Tuesday.
