BROOKLYN - One Prospect Lefferts Gardens couple gets all of their grocery shopping done on $30 a week.

Philip Rosenbloom and Christina DaCosta say they plan in advance what they need with the goal of saving money and reducing waste.

"There are ingredients that we can buy that are in season that are less expensive and fresh," says Rosenbloom.

"You can spend the day making bread, making yogurt, doing different sorts of things getting you ready for the week," said DaCosta.

The key for the couple is steering clear of prepackaged food.
