PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS - Residents are taking action to combat the problem of illegal garbage dumping in their Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood. Those who live in the area say things have gotten so bad they had no choice but to speak out.

Demonstrators passed out fliers today, containing information on illegal dumping penalties and tips on how to deal with the problem. The Department of Sanitation issued a statement saying officials will monitor the area for improper disposal and illegal dumping.
