Prospect Park closed due to downed trees

Prospect Park was hit hard by Hurricane Irene Saturday night, leading the city to shut down the park to both bikers and runners on Sunday.

PROSPECT PARK - Prospect Park was hit hard by Hurricane Irene Saturday night, leading the city to shut down the park to both bikers and runners on Sunday.

The park was filled with tree limbs and puddles of water that engulfed paths and entrances to the Park Drive. The storm even flooded the Prospect Park Lake, causing geese to scatter about.

No word on when the park will reopen again.
