PROSPECT PARK - The Prospect Park Zoo celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year Sunday with an event featuring the animals in the Chinese zodiac.

Zoo Director Denise McClean says the zoo thought it would be a great idea to highlight all the animals in the Chinese zodiac at their celebration. A scavenger hunt was held involving the animals, which featured bearded dragons, sheep and dingos representing the dog in the zodiac.

Since 2014 is the Year of the Horse, horses were the main attraction at the event. Children and their parents got to see a miniature horse and learn about the differences between miniature horses and ponies.

The Brooklyn Chinese Association helped with the event and set up other activities, including a puppet show and a paper lantern craft.
