Protesters picket against mosque construction in Sheepshead Bay

SHEEPSHEAD BAY - The fight over the construction of a muslim community center in Sheepshead Bay heated up yesterday as protesters took to the streets.

Protesters picketed outside the construction site at 28-12 Voorhies Ave.

The muslim community center would contain a muslim school and mosque.

Protesters say that the community center would increase traffic and noise in the generally quiet neighborhood.

Supporters of the plan say that the protesters have anti-muslim sentiments.
