BROOKLYN - Dozens of protesters descended on the Williamsburg Bridge today as part of a massive demonstration to mark May Day. The protest was part of the Occupy Wall Street movement, but was expected to be even larger because Occupy protesters are aligning themselves with the labor unions that traditionally rally on May Day. While Occupy organizers called for peaceful protests, they urged participants to block major arteries, like the Brooklyn Bridge, and gather around major financial buildings.

Police boosted patrols across the city in response.
