Public Advocate Bill de Blasio made a quick return to the picket line after being arrested during a rally to save Long Island College Hospital.

BROOKLYN - Public Advocate Bill de Blasio made a quick return to the picket line after being arrested during a rally to save Long Island College Hospital.

A group of 15 people, including Councilman Steve Levin, was taken into custody for civil disobedience in midtown Wednesday, but de Blasio was back at it the next day, marching from the medical center to the Brooklyn Bridge.

The protests are part of a long battle with SUNY Downstate and workers who say ambulances are being diverted and staff cut.

Downstate is expected in court on July 15 for a contempt hearing.
