BROOKLYN - ? The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is holding the first in its month-long series of public hearings on proposed fare hikes tonight.

Straphangers are encouraged to voice their opinion on the agency?s proposals to raise $413 million in new revenue.

The agency earlier proposed fare increases for MetroCards. If approved, the plan would increase the cost of the monthly unlimited card beginning in January.
