BROOKLYN - Uncertainty is now surrounding the famed Brooklyn Steppers after their director resigned amid allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

People close to the Brooklyn Steppers want to know who will take the place of Tyrone Brown. And will the group ultimately continue on?

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, whose foundation supports the group, has partly answered one question by announcing the Brooklyn Steppers will continue to receive his support.

"Just because an organization has someone in the organization that does something that I think is totally inappropriate, doesn't mean it's a bad organization or it isn't doing some good," Bloomberg says.

The Department of Education said Monday that Brown resigned because of allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a student. Special Commissioner of Investigation Richard J. Condon released a nine-page investigative report that claims Brown was involved with a 17-year-old female student who is also a member of the Brooklyn Steppers.

Brown has denied the allegations against him.
