Quinn: City will overcome economic doldrums

BROOKLYN - City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said she's optimistic New York City will weather the current economic storm and emerge stronger than ever.

Quinn, in her State of the City address, says she plans to put an extra focus on the city's small businesses, since they employ millions of New Yorkers.

"Even if we can't see it today, the economy is going to recover," Quinn says. "People will start spending again, people will hire new workers and brand-new businesses will emerge."
