BROOKLYN - South Brooklyn straphangers are bracing for a major shakeup on the R train starting next Saturday.
The MTA is putting service into Manhattan on hold for the next 14 months so that it can make repairs to the Montague Street Tunnel, which connects the two boroughs.
Officials say the tunnel closure is necessary to reverse the extensive damage caused by Superstorm Sandy last October.

The R train will still operate in Brooklyn during the week, but Court Street will be the final stop. The line will make its way into Manhattan on the weekends only via the Manhattan Bridge, but it will bypass Downtown Brooklyn and other stations south of Canal Street.
