BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - A rally was held today at Raymond Bush Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant to promote peace in the neighborhood.

The rally, hosted by Jarret Mathis, was called "Empowering Ourselves." The event meant to teach kids about having fun without turning to violence.

"The whole goal of my effort is to make kids feel better about themselves," said Mathis, "to develop more respect for themselves and others, and also to give them the tools to empower themselves and other kids."
