Rally held in Brooklyn to save firehouse

BROOKLYN - With budget cuts looming, politicians, firefighters and Brooklyn residents rallied Sunday in an effort to save Ladder 161 from possible future closure.

Due to possible budget cuts, Ladder 161 is just one of eight Brooklyn firehouses who may be coming to an end in the next year. Mayor Bloomberg tends to make the cuts in part of the new budget plan.

Organizers of the rally say that their neighborhood has one of the highest concentration of high-rise residential buildings that houses thousands of people. They added that one less ladder company may be the difference of saving lives in the future.
