BROOKLYN - Teachers and parents rallied today against proposed cuts by Mayor Michael Bloomberg that would eliminate 6,100 teaching positions.

Advocates say the layoffs could result in severe overcrowding at the city's public schools. The mayor has argued the cuts are necessary to combat state funding cuts.

Bloomberg is expected to release his budget tomorrow.
