BROOKLYN - With construction at the embattled Atlantic Yards site on hold, Prospect Heights residents say their neighborhood has succumbed to a severe rodent infestation.

"A lot of rats jumping in the garbage all over the place," says Adrian Cruz. "You can see them all in the garbage bags."

People living along Dean Street say ever since developer Forest City Ratner demolished six buildings to make way for the Atlantic Yards project, rats have been scurrying out of the rubble and establishing thriving colonies on vacant lots.

"You see like 10 to 12 rats running around," says Clive Bushay. "People are scared."

Developers promise that as soon as some lawsuits against the Atlantic Yards project are out of the way, construction will get going.
