CONEY ISLAND - Students got to celebrate a day of fun at Kaiser Park today, where a red carpet back-to-school event was held.

Coney Island children got their share of face-painting, manicures, music and more. The organization that held the event, Reaching for the Stars, also gave out free school supplies.

Organizers say the goal of the event was to boost the students' self-esteem and get them to interact with their peers.
