Red Hook collapse injures construction workers

RED HOOK - Two construction workers were hospitalized Wednesday after a partial building collapse in Red Hook.

Witnesses say the men were doing demolition work on a private residence at 51 Woodhull St. around noon when the incident occurred. Fire officials say it appears the first floor collapsed and one of the two injured men fell through to the basement.The workers were rushed to Lutheran Medical Center with neck, back and leg injuries.

The Department of Buildings has issued a stop-work order as an investigation into the incident gets underway.
