RED HOOK - Red Hook residents hit hard by Superstorm Sandy are paying it forward by helping victims of the recent typhoon in the Philippines.

The Philippine Promise Fund in Red Hook is looking to send more than 1,000 backpacks filled with hygienic and educational supplies to the country.

Typhoon Haiyan hit the island nation last month, killing more than 6,000 people.
