RED HOOK - Red Hook residents will continue to face difficulties with the subway into the new year, as the opening of the Smith 9th Street subway station has been pushed back three months.
The F and G line train station has been closed since June 2011 for renovations. It was supposed to open Monday, but the MTA says the contractor fell behind on renovations and it will now open in March. A new public address system, platform surfaces and lighting have already been installed, but contractors are still working on the control house, escalator and stairs.
Business owners in the area say they're annoyed with the delay, as they've lost more than half of their business since the station closed last year.
