Relatives say goodbye to slain heroic sanitation worker from E. Flatbush

CANARSIE - Family members and friends said goodbye Saturday in Canarsie to a heroic sanitation worker who was gunned down.Mourners remember 33-year-old Damon Allen as a hero for saving a 4-year-old from a burning building last September while he was on his trash pickup route. They say he will be missed.

Authorities say Allen was shot and killed Monday near his East Flatbush home while he was celebrating West Indian-American Day. Three others were injured in the shooting. Police have two suspects in connection with the crime.
