BOROUGH PARK - A relief fund has been set up to help the tenants affected by the explosion in Borough Park on Saturday.

Investigators say they initially believed the explosion, which killed two people and injured several others, may have resulted from a gas leak, but officials have still not announced a definitive cause.

Francesca Figueroa, who has not been seen since explosion, may have intended to take her own life, according to reports. News 12 has previously reported that investigators initially believed the blast had ignited due to a gas leak from a stove in her apartment.

The New York Daily News has reported that Figueroa may have used chemicals from the hair salon that she owned to set the blast.

Many who live in the neighboring building are still not able to go back home. Officials say the people displaced are facing growing financial costs, including relocation, replacing damaged property, food and medical expenses.
