EAST FLATBUSH - Two East Flatbush school officials are facing disciplinary action after an investigation found that they mishandled a sexual abuse claim from a student.

A report released by the Special Commissioner of Investigation for City Schools started the investigation in May 2011. According to the report, an 11-year-old female student claimed she was sexually abused by two male students on a daily basis for an entire school year. Another student also made similar accusations about sexual abuse.

The report blames Assistant Principal Patricia Sabater and guidance counselor Rebecca Shaffren for failing to report and properly address the student's complaint.

In a statement, the Department of Education spokesperson says, "We have zero tolerance for educators who put our children at risk - and the findings of this report are deeply disturbing."

The DOE says it plans to fire Sabater and take appropriate disciplinary action against Shaffren.
