Report: Sales surge 172 percent in DUMBO

BROOKLYN - A pedestrian plaza in DUMBO has created a business boom for the area.

According to a new report from the Department of Transportation (DOT), there has been a 172-percent increase in sales since the Pearl Street Triangle was transformed into a seating area and the Manhattan Bridge archway was opened up in 2007.

Local business owners say they're grateful for the extra foot traffic and customers.
