Report: Young recruits may be too fat to fight

BROOKLYN - A group of former military officers say nearly 30 percent of youth are too overweight to fight in the army.

The group, called Mission Readiness, cited a report that says young people would be unfit to serve in the military if current obesity trends continued.

Currently, all military branches are meeting their recruitment goals. However, the group says if the obesity crisis continues it could be a threat to national security.
