Residents: Animal parts found in park pond

BROOKLYN - Residents say they have noticed animal parts in the water at Prospect Park over the last 10 days, and they are worried about contamination.

Park-goers have found dead turtles, chicken heads and other animal parts floating in the pond. They believe someone is using the pond to dump waste.

Representatives from the Prospect Park Alliance say it?s a natural occurrence to see animals dying off after a harsh winter. They also noted the water in the pond is fed by a city pipe, which reduces contamination.

The alliance is conducting additional tests in the water to ensure there is no contamination.
