Residents celebrate the Fourth at Prospect Park

BROOKLYN - Some Brooklyn residents took advantage Saturday of Prospect Park's relaxed grilling rules for the Independence Day holiday.

According to signs posted around the park, there are select spots designated for grilling. Residents say the barbecues are taken quickly and some arrived at the park before 4 a.m. to ensure they could grill food for their Fourth of July parties.

Some Prospect Park visitors say there is an unwritten rule that barbecues can be set up around the park for Independence Day even outside the designated areas.
