FLATLANDS - Members of the Flatlands community are calling on the city to demolish a neighborhood eyesore they say has become a health risk.

According to nearby residents, the house at 1114 East 40th St. suffered severe damage in a 2009 fire, and has not been tended to since the blaze.

Councilman Jumaane Williams (D-District 45) is supporting neighbors, demanding the city take immediate action. He says 11 violations have been filed against the building's owner, and that it was ordered to be demolished about two years ago.

News 12 Brooklyn reached out to the city's Housing Department and the homeowner, but has yet to hear back.
