NANUET - Some Rockland County residents headed out to local pools on Thursday to cool off from the scorching summer temperatures.

Nanuet resident Steve Fazulak and his grandchildren were some of the first people to arrive at the Lake Nanuet pool.

His granddaughter said a plunge into the pool was a refreshing way to beat the heat.

Many other residents stayed inside their air conditioned homes to stay cool.

Orange & Rockland Utilities has issued a heat watch through Friday in the hope of preventing an overload in demand for electricity.
