Residents in Bushwick forced to evacuate after building deemed unsafe

BUSHWICK - The fire department evacuated three Brooklyn homes Tuesday following a complaint that the building was tilting dangerously to one side. Residents were asked to evacuate 1209 Broadway in Bushwick after officials from the Department of Buildings said the structure was unsafe. Meantime, the building?s landlord says he will put the three tenants up in another one of his buildings. Officials from the Department of Buildings say if the landlord fails to provide housing for the displaced tenants, the Red Cross will find them a place to stay.
