Residents: Many Brooklyn side roads still snow-covered

BOROUGH PARK - Residents said many side streets across Brooklyn remained unplowed this afternoon, even after Department of Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty promised all city streets would be cleared by 7 a.m.

Some Brooklyn residents called the statement Doherty made yesterday a broken promise.

Many in Borough Park said they have yet to see a single plow come to their street. Residents said they have been calling the city to complain about the slow progress.

The Department of Sanitation said it was investigating the response to the storm.

On East 3rd Avenue, residents said a school bus was stuck in the snow-covered street for hours this morning.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg described the city's response to the blizzard as "inadequate and unacceptable." Bloomberg said a review will take place after the cleanup is complete.
