BED-STUY - Residents in Bed-Stuy are on high alert tonight as police continue to search for a man who tried to rape an elderly woman earlier this week. Police say the suspect attempted to rape the 77-year-old shop owner in broad daylight on Wednesday, but fled after struggling with the victim. Business owners in the area say they will not close their stores in fear, but will keep a sharp eye on every customer that walks in. Police have described the suspect as an African-American in his late 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and around 170 pounds.
