Residents petition for stop signs near McCarren Park

WILLIAMSBURG - A petition is being sent around Williamsburg that calls for new stop signs and pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection of Lorimer and Bayard streets.

One resident says she's witnessed three collisions at the intersection near McCarren Park within an eight-day span.

The Department of Transportation says it is aware of the issue and is studying the intersection to determine if it needs stop signs.

Meanwhile, pedestrians, bikers and joggers say they're being cautious when crossing the street.
