Residents protest education cuts in Sunset Park

SUNSET PARK - Teachers, parents and students across the city sent a message to Mayor Michael Bloomberg today that his proposed budget cuts that call for the elimination of teaching positions is not acceptable.

Protesters say they wanted to make sure they got the mayor's attention by picketing in front of P.S. 24 in Sunset Park.

The protest was part of a citywide effort called "Fight Back Friday."

They say they plan to continue to march and protest the budget cuts and even call their local City Council representatives to make sure they vote against the mayor's budget.
