BROOKLYN - An increasing number of electric cars are rolling around New York City streets.

Today, residents in Williamsburg got a chance to test drive the vehicles during Smart's national tour.

The event took place on North Sixth and Berry streets.

Residents can also test Smart's cars in Williamsburg tomorrow from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Last month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced an initiative called Charge NY which calls for a network of 3,000 charging stations in the state over the next five years. The initiative also hopes to have 4,000 plug-in vehicles on the road by 2018 and 1 million by 2025.
