Residents water trees to beat city heat

BROOKLYN - During the summer heat, the New York City Parks & Recreation Department is asking residents to water trees that line sidewalks.

Members of the community and parks department demonstrated today creative ways to water street trees during the summer. The trees need approximately 20 gallons of water per week.

MillionTreesNYC, a mayoral initiative to plant one million new trees by 2017, has now planted over 375,000 trees.
