CROWN HEIGHTS - Five firefighters were hurt while battling a fire at a Crown Heights funeral home this morning, according to first responders.

The blaze started at 1078 Bergen St. at 10 a.m.

Sources say the injured firefighters were taken to New York Methodist Hospital with one in serious condition.

Witnesses told News 12 that the family that owns the funeral home lives on the upper floors of the burned building.

A spokesman from the Red Cross says the agency sent multiple teams to the scene to help the victims.

Fire officials are investigating what started the blaze.
