NEW YORK CITY - Foodies, rejoice: Restaurant Week is underway in the Big Apple.

During the special week, diners in New York City can enjoy three-course lunches for $25 and three-course dinners for $38.

New York City's Restaurant Week is the country's first and original Restaurant Week. It launched in 1992 with the purpose of entertaining NYC visitors during that year's Democratic National Convention. Since then, it has been an exciting event for both visitors and locals.

Business owners welcome Restaurant Week, as well. Ryan Jaronik, the owner and chef at Benchmark, says that the week helps restaurants attract customers in its slow season.

Restaurant Week lasts through March 7.
