BROOKLYN - The first BlackBerry that combines a touchscreen and slideout keyboard hits AT&T stores next week.

Research In Motion Ltd., the Canadian company that makes theBlackBerry, says the BlackBerry Torch will cost $199 with a two-year contract.

The device uses a new operating system and has a faster, easy-to-use Web browser.

Available Aug. 12, the Torch will be the first phone with anupdated BlackBerry operating system that adds several features.

Makers of the phone are hoping to raise consumer appeal and fend off competition.
