PROSPECT PARK - Runners got a local history lesson this morning at they took part in the Battle of Brooklyn Run, named for the largest battle of the Revolutionary War.

The battle itself took place in 1776 along the 10 miles the run now covers. Throughout the course were volunteers in powdered wigs, dousing the runners with water.

Race organizers say this is the fourth year the run has been held. Next year, they hope to include a component that involves raising money for different causes.
