BROOKLYN - Members of the Knights of Columbus in Gerritsen Beach say someone broke into their office and stole a safe filled with thousands of dollars in donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"I feel like my house was robbed because this is my second home," says Sonny Galucci, of the Knights of Columbus. "Everything we have was in that safe."

Members of the group say the burglar came in through the window. The alarm system was ripped out of the wall, and the office was left in disarray.

The fundraising for cystic fibrosis is a personal cause for the Gerritsen Beach group. One of the Knights of Columbus members' sons died years ago from the disease. The organization had raised the money through donations, raffles and fundraisers.

Last year, the Knights raised $9,800 for the cause. They wanted to surpass that goal this year.
